A TRIBUTE TO OSCAR DE LA RENTA

Fue uno de los grandes, la aguja dorada, el diseñador que creaba vestidos de cuento, que vestía a la alta sociedad de Alta Costura, que reflejaba el arte de Balenciaga, que diseñaba piezas con las que todas hemos sonado. / He was one of the greatest, the gold needle, the designer that create fairy tale dresses, that dress the high society into Haute Couture, that reflect Balenciaga art, the design pieces we all have dream with.

Oscar de la Renta falleció el pasado 20 de Octubre con 82 años. En 2006 le diagnosticaron un cáncer, hace un año dijo que estaba "completamente curado". En Junio de 2013 en un programa de Nueva York confeso: "La única realidad de la vida es que naces y mueres. Pensamos que vamos a vivir para siempre. No aceptamos el aspecto de la muerte. Lo bueno de tener este tipo de avisos es que empiezas a apreciar cada día de tu vida". / Oscar de la Renta died last Octuber 20 th. with 82 years old. In 2006 he was diagnosed with Cancer but last year she told the press he was "totally clear". In June 2013 he told the audience while a tv show: "The only realities in life are that you are born, and that you die. We always think we are going to live forever. The dying aspect we will never accept. The one thing about having this kind of warning is how you appreciate every single day of life."

Era un perfecto cabellero, siempre con una sonrisa en sus labios. De esas personas especiales, que dejan huella. / He was a true gentleman, always with a smile on his face. He was one of those special persons who leave their mark.

Una semana antes de su muerte, el diseñador nombro un nuevo director creativo para llevar su firma, Peter Copping. / One week before he died, he named a new creative director of the brand Oscar de la renta; Peter Copping.

Su historia. / His history.

Nacio el 22 de Julio de 1932 en la República Dominicana, era el único chico de 7 hermanos. Su madre tenia descendientes españoles, y su padre era el dueño de una compania de seguros. / He was born in July 22 1932 at Dominican Republic, he was the only boy of 7 children. His mother had Spanish descent, and his dad was the owner of a insurance company.

"Mi padre tenia distintas aspiraciones para mi de las que yo tenia. Si le hubiera dicho que iba a ser un diseñador de moda, hubiera muerto en ese mismo momento." / "My father had different aspirations for me than I had for myself. If I ever told my father I would become a fashion designer, he would drop dead on the spot."

Con 18 años, tras la muerte de su madre, viajo a España para estudiar en la academia de San Fernando, en Madrid. Durante algún tiempo estudio arte abstracto pero pronto descubrió que lo que realmente le gustaba era la moda. Para ganar un dinero extra, dibujaba vestidos para periódicos y casas de moda. Gracias a eso la mujer del embajador de Estados Unidos en España, Francesca Lodge, vio algunos de sus dibujos y le pido que, por favor, le diseñara un vestido para su hija. El vestido apareció en la portada de la Revista Life. / With 18 years old, after his mother death, he traveled to Spain to study at San Fernando academy, in Madrid. He studied abstract art for a while, but soon he discover that what he really love was fashion. To earn some extra money, he draw dresses for newspapers and fashion houses. Thanks to this, the wife of the U.S. Ambassador to Spain, Francesca Lodge, saw some of his draws and asked him to design a gown for her daughter. The dress appeared on the cover of Life magazine.

Pronto fue requerido por el mundo de la moda, y empezó a trabajar con casas importantes de moda españolas, y pronto lo hizo con Cristobal Balenciaga, a quien consideraba su metor. En 1961, se traslado a Paris para trabajar con Antonio del Castillo como asistente para Lanvin. / Soon he was requires by the fashion world, and he started to work with important spanish fashion houses and soon with Cristobal Balenciaga, whom he consider his mentor. In 1961 he moves to Paris to work with Antonio del Castillo as assistant at Lavin.

En 1963 tras ser aconsejado por Diana Vreeland, editora de Vogue, quien le aconsejo que trabajara para Elisabeth Arden "ella no es una diseñadora, así que te promocionara.  Si te quedas donde estas siempre te eclipsara Dior." Dos años después, empezó a trabajar con Jane Derby, una casa de moda americana. Cuando Jane murió en 1965 Oscar se quedo con la firma, ya tenia su coleccion pret a porter. / In 1963 he followed Diana Vreeland (the Vogue editor in chief) advice: "she is not a designer so she will promote you. If you stay were you are you will always be eclipsed by Dior". Two years later, he started to work with Jane Derby, an american fashion house. When Jane died in 1965, Oscar took over the label, he already got his ready to wear firm.

En 1967 se caso con Françoise de Langlade, editora de Vogue Frances. Oscar fue el tercer marido de la editora, quien falleció en 1983 de cáncer, tras su muerte De La Renta adopto un niño de la Republica Dominicana a quien llamo Moises. / In 1967 he married Françoise de Langlade, editor-in-chief of French Vogue. Oscar was the third husban of the editor, who pass away from a cancer in 1983, after her death, he adopted a boy from the Dominican Republic named Moises.

En 1989 se caso con Annette Engelhard, socialite y filantropa. De ambos matrimonios, De La Renta tenia hijastros; Alex Bolen y Eliza Bolen, trabajan para la firma de Oscar de la Renta. / In 1989 he married Annette Engelhard, socialite and philanthropy. Of both marriage he had step children: Alex Bolen and Eliza Bolen work at Oscar de La Renta. 

De 1993 al 2000, diseño Alta Costura para la casa Balmain.Y en 2006 lanzo su primera colección para novias, de la que vemos un vestido en la película de Sexo en Nueva York. / Between 1993 and 2000, he dsigner haute couture for Balenciafa. In 2006 he lunch his first bride collection, we saw a pice in the movie Sex and the City.

Fundo en la República Dominicana La Casa del Niño Huérfano en La Romana, y construyo colegios para niños necesitados también en Puerto Rico. / He founded the Casa del Niño orphanage in La Romana plus he buily few schools for children in Puerto Rico.

Su arte. / His art.

Su talento ha obtenido infinidad de premios y reconocimientos internacionales. En 1967 y 1968 gano el premio Coty, en el 2000 el  Council of Fashion Designers Designer of the Year Award. Ha obtenido la Gran Cruz de la Orden Merito Civil española, así como la Medalla de Oro de Bellas Artes, la Legión de Honor francesa, etc. / His talent had won plenty of awards and international recognition. Between 1967 and 1968 he won the Coty awards, in 2000 the Council of Fashion Designers Designer of the Year Award. Ha had got the Gran Cruz de la Orden Merito Civil of  Spain and the Gold medal of Bellas Artes, and the french Légion d'honneur, etc.

Sarah Jassica Parker lo adoraba, y ha llevado sus vestidos a un guan numero de festivales, eventos y premios. "Ha sido un gran privilegio que me vista el Sr. de la Renta, para tantas ocasiones durante los últimos 15 años. Especialmente ha sido significativo colaborar con el para la Gala Met. Siempre estaré agradecida de que me haya permitido bordar su nombre en rojo en el borde de su glorioso vestido. El fue inspiración y un hombre como ningun otro". / Sarah Jessica Parker adore him, he has wear many of his pieces at film festivals, events and awards."It was an enormous privilege to be dressed by Mr. de la Renta for so many occasions over the last 15 years. And especially meaningful to collaborate with him for this year's Met Gala. I will always be grateful that he allowed me to honor him by embroidering his name in Scarlett on the hem of his glorious dress. He was an inspiration and a man like no other." 

Uno de sus ultimos trabajos fue vestir de novia a la reciente mujer de George Clooney, asi lo cuento Amal Clooney a Vogue: "George y yo queriamos que nuestra boda fuera romantica y elegante, y no podia imaginar nadie mas capaz que Oscar para captar este estado en un vestido". / One of his latest works was to create the wedding dress of Georges Clooney recently wife, Amal Clooney told Vogue magazine: "George and I wanted a wedding that was romantic and elegant, and I can't imagine anyone more able than Oscar to capture this mood in a dress."

PLAID PATTERN IS SO IN

Los cuadros continúan invadiendo nuestros armarios, los diseñadores se han puesto las pilas para sacar la versión mas creativa de estas formas geométricas. Y lo han echo intentando captar el lado mas glamuroso y chic que permite este estampado. / Plaid still invade our closet, designers have been stepping up to take the most creative version of these geometric shapes. And they have do it  trying to get the most glamorous and chic side this pattern allow.

Este estampado se va a convertir en la tendencia patrón del otoño 2014. Se trasforma en pura sofisticacion, elegancia, y tendencia, eso si, dejando opciones para todos los gustos ya que puedes adaptarla al mas puro estilo grunge o al mas elegante y clásico de ellos. Ello se debe a que deriva del estilo de 2013 pero con una vuelta de tuerca. / This pattern is turning to be the standard trend pattern of fall 2014. It gets transformed into pure sophistication, elegance and trend, but it leave options for everyone so you can adapt the purest grunge style or the more elegant and classic one up to how you are and what you want.
